Belsonic 2009 Replaces Tennents Vital
Given the disappointment surrounding the fact there was again no announcement of Tennents Vital again this summer, Northern Irish music fans would’ve again missed out on a outdoor festival. The music festival gave joy to NI music fans at Vital 07.
2007 saw the best line-up in the history of the festival as bands like The Killers, Kasabian and Razorlight, all decided to play the festival.
Razorlight, Manic Street Preachers, The View, The Hold Steady, Oppenheimer, Justice, Alloy Mental, I Was A Cub Scout, Black Alley Screens, General Fiasco, Steer Clear, Nice ‘n’ Sleezy, The Killers, Kasabian, Mark Ronson, The Shins, Albert Hammond Jr., The Holloways, Kharma 45 all played in front of capacity crowds and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.
Despite this being the best year yet the festival has yet to return however thankfully Belsonic has stepped up to the field and filled in the gap that Vital has left behind.
Headliners on each of the three nights last year were the Flaming Lips, The Enemy and The Zutons and the outdoor festival went down really well. This year Belsonic return with another good line-up to keep Northern Irish music fans happy!

In particular the first night should draw in a lot of fans since Dizzee Rascal has been dominating the charts in particular since teaming up with Calvin Harris and just recently his hit single ‘Bonkers.’ The second night features a more dance oriented line-up which will no doubt attract many people due to the large dance scene in Northern Ireland.
Finally the third night, where all acts have been specially chosen by Duke Special is sure to be a treat. He has gathered up a huge following after the release of his album Songs From the Deep Forest.
This year the show has a lot to live up to especially after the particular performances of the Flaming Lips, Fighting With Wire, and Oppenheimer who all delievered stunning sets that really captured the hearts of the fans who had made the effort to turn up to this event which was a big ask due to the rain and windy conditions that surrounded the festival. But hopefully Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, 2 Many DJ’s and Duke Special as well as all the supporting acts can bring some good music to Belfast in 2009!
The festival will take place between the 27th and 29th August at Custom House Square in Belfast and all music fans are urged to get tickets which are available from Ticketmaster!
